Bit threads and the membrane theory of entanglement dynamics

A bstract Recently, an effective membrane theory was proposed that describes the “hydrodynamic” regime of entanglement dynamics for general chaotic systems. Motivated by new bit threads formulation holographic entropy, given in terms a convex optimization problem based on flow maximization, or equivalently tight packing threads, we reformulate as max proving flow-min cut theorem. In context holography, explain relation between program dual to and surface extremization prescription providing explicit map from bulk, derive former latter without reference minimal surfaces membranes.
